Boiler daily operation, often encountered pot water alkalinity is high or relatively high alkalinity in this regard. When the relative alkalinity is high up to a certain value, caustic embrittlement may occur in the pressure bearing parts of the boiler, and in severe cases, the boiler may explode. April 1955 Tianjin first cotton mill boiler explosion accident in 1970, Inner Mongolia Lama Bay Power Plant boiler explosion accidents are caused by caustic embrittlement. Relative alkalinity is to monitor the safe operation of an important indicator of the boiler. Relative alkalinity refers to the free water in the pot of sodium hydroxide alkalinity and pot water dissolved solids ratio, when the value is less than 0.2, the boiler metal will not occur caustic embrittlement corrosion. The origin of this value is not based on any theory, is entirely derived from the number of trials test values.
