文章《长恨歌》的主题一直是学术界争鸣的问题。产生这种现象的原困无外一是因男女主人翁的特殊身份所致，二是作者创作劫机与作品客观效果不相吻合所致。从作品对主人公的形象描写分析，全诗的政治色彩淡泊，而从作者的创作意图和情感倾向的矛盾及作品的实际效果可以说明《长恨歌》主题当以情主。
The theme of the essay “Everlasting Sorrow” has always been the subject of academic debate.
