The technically quite complex Landsat 4 / TM-The-matic Mapper land-based observing satellite remote sensing system is already providing new and important sets of infrared short-wave data, which are closely related to Landsat Multi-Spectra The combination of Visible (VIS) data, Far Infrared (VNIR) data and Thermal Infrared (TI) data from a Scanner (MSS) will greatly improve regional geological mapping on a global scale. Thematic plotters will significantly improve survey mapping capabilities of the world’s large area of clay, iron oxide, bauxite and nickel laterites. It will also improve the ability to recognize and determine the distribution of key plants in the lateritic environment. This article exemplifies the practical application of remote sensing technology in nickel laterite and laterite. Nickel laterites on the island of Gager, Indonesia, were identified by multispectral scanner photographs, and satellite images of Bauxite deposits in the islands of Weipa, Bougainville and Darling in Australia all showed multispectral scanner data for bauxite Potential for exploration and mining. Examples of applications of satellites and aerosynthetic aperture radars (SARs) in Jamaica and Indonesia and Kalimantan in Indonesia also confirm the use of this method in prospecting for bauxites. Thematic plotter data will be combined with data from France’s positioning and tracking satellite’s high spatial resolution, stereovision data and synthetic aperture radar data in the United States, Japan, Europe and Canada to support the world’s efforts to bauxite and other Laterite deposits related to logistical supplies, mine development and environmental matters.
