The authors followed up 2633 patients (except 8 exceptions) who underwent partial gastrectomy (Billroth I or II) for gastric or duodenal ulcers from 1931 to 1960 at the University of Amsterdam Medical Center in the Netherlands until death (176 cases) ), contact interruption (2 cases) or immigration (41 cases). At the final follow-up at the end of 1987, 821 cases survived. The authors grouped cases by gender, disease, age at the time of surgery, and surgical methods to calculate the cumulative survival rate of the entire group and each subgroup, and compared the expected cumulative survival curve of the general population in the Netherlands.
