面向新的世纪，史学工作应当更加重视提高人们对于历史智慧的认识。人们在自身所参与的历史运动中，创造和积累了历史智慧；它一方面通过大量的物质财富折射出来，一方面又以精神产品的形式积累和传承。正如人们不应当割断历史一样，人们也不应当割断历史智慧同现代科学知识、认识能力之间的联系。史学是人们学习历史知识、汲取历史智慧的主要途径；在历史发展中，人们的这种自觉意识也在不断提高。历史智慧在人们的现实运动、社会实践中具有重要的意义，显示出历史学的最重要的社会功能。端正学风，是人们得以不断地从史学中汲取更多智慧的基本保证
In the new century, historiography should place more emphasis on raising people’s awareness of historical wisdom. In the historical movements in which one participates, people create and accumulate historical wisdom; on the one hand, they are reflected through a large amount of material wealth and on the other hand, they accumulate and inherit in the form of spiritual products. Just as one should not cut history, one should not cut off the link between historical wisdom and modern scientific knowledge and understanding of power. Historiography is the main way for people to learn historical knowledge and learn from the wisdom of history. In the historical development, people’s consciousness of this kind of consciousness is also constantly improving. Historical wisdom is of great significance in the people’s actual movement and social practice, showing the most important social function of history. Correcting the style of study is the basic guarantee that people can continuously learn more wisdom from history
