文学的阶段性发展最终形成社会性运动，是２０世纪中国特有的历史现象，而２０世纪重庆文学运动具有着区域性运动及全国性运动的双重地位。这就在于重庆文学发展，特别是运动形态特征的承续与更替，与重庆社会发展的不同历史阶段紧密相连。２０世纪重庆文学运动的第一阶段，也就是重庆早期现代化时期，因而文学运动形态表现出城市化与市民化的基本特征。
The phased development of literature eventually formed a social movement, which is a historical phenomenon peculiar to China in the 20th century. The 20th century Chongqing literary movement has the dual status of regional movement and national movement. This is because the development of the literature in Chongqing, especially the continuation and replacement of the features of the movement, is closely linked with the different historical stages of Chongqing’s social development. The first phase of the Chongqing literary movement in the twentieth century, that is, the period of early modernization in Chongqing, thus the form of literary movement showed the basic characteristics of urbanization and citizenization.
