数学地质是运用数学的理论和方法研究地质学基础理论和解决地质学中实际问题的地质学分支,核心是从量的方面研究和解决地质科学问题。本文回顾了数学地质学概念和其历史发展的萌芽、形成、发展、普及、推广,提高、完善阶段五个阶段;,介绍了数学地质的内容和方法,以及数学地质在石油地质勘探开发中的应用,最后展望了近年国内外数学地质的现状与发展方向。
