This article takes Taiwan’s dating website as an example to discuss whether the cognitive and linguistic features in the virtual situation preserve the traditional cultural orientation of Chinese. The results show that the content of Internet users focuses on the description of self-ideology and personality; the language form prefers to express the personal feeling through the pragmatic and transparent imperatives and modal particles. The conclusion points out that Chinese people show individualism in online society, highlighting themselves more important than making friends and developing different modes of communication that are different from the real world.
