S1240程控交换机内有两种控制单元。一是终端控制单元(TCE),用作终端模块与数字交换单元之间的接口,并对终端单元实行控制。二是辅助控制单元(ACE),用于增强终端控制单元的基本处理能力和存贮能力。两者在硬件结构上完全相同,都是由终端接口和带存储器的处理机组成。终端接口内部结构除了时分复用总线和用通用集成电路组成的信息包RAM外,主要是本文要介绍的两块专用大规模集成电路——端口控制器(port controller)POCO和四端口通路器(Qua drupple Ports)QUAP。 POCO通过时分复用总线与信息包RAM和各个QUAP相连接,并通过高速总线与处理机相连。因此,处理机对各个QUAP和信息包RAM的控制和信息交换都是通过POCO来进行的
