Laxatives or bowel helps reduce gastrointestinal contamination. There have been previous reports of surgical interventions for rare acute appendicitis secondary to mercury accumulations in the appendix. The authors report a case of massive mercury incorporation with mercury in the appendix. Surgery in this case to promote bowel clearance spilled mercury into the patient’s abdominal cavity.
