Fiber systems for high-capacity communications, demanding optical fiber and cable bandwidth test methods. Factors such as light source characteristics and injection conditions affect fiber bandwidth measurements. The guidelines developed by the American Electronics Industry Association (EIA) and the International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee (CCITT) aim to minimize these possible measurement variations. These guidelines limit the maximum line width and center wavelength of the light source and recommend the use of a microdisplacement or core-axis filter technique to meet the standardized injection conditions.
