5月份的主要钢材价格都出现了下跌走势。其中主要应用于建筑领域的普通线材、棒材和小型材价格延续了下跌走势。相比年初高点,各地区当前市场价格的跌幅在700～1000元/吨之间。上海市场螺纹钢价格跌破了3000元/吨。但是由于铁矿石和焦炭价格也出现回落,钢铁企业成本走低,也使得厂家有降价的空间。而板材方面,薄板价格在“五·一”节后也出现比较大的回落,上海市场热轧薄板跌幅达到600元/吨,而冷轧跌幅也在500元/吨左右。
