唐朝是中国历史上富足社会的一个代表。曾有研究唐代农村的学者指出,唐朝繁盛时期,一个村子里生活水平,在小康以上的民户占36%,温饱以上的为40%,不够温饱的占24%,这在整个前工业化时期都算是比较富足的状态。还有学者认为,唐朝繁盛期的人均粮食占有量达到了整个封建社会的最高峰。温饱问题解决了,便开始在“吃”上花心思,无论食材选择还是烹制手法,唐朝较前朝都出现了明显变化,也从一个侧面反映出当时的社会文化。
