Synthetic nicotine (nicotine) derivatives on pests have a strong killing effect, known as the neonicotinoid insecticide, has been widely used in agriculture. However, continuous research in recent years has found that neonicotinoid insecticides may pollinate insects such as “accidental injury” bees. A new German study adds new evidence that the insecticide will reduce acetylcholine in royal jelly and prevent growth and development of young bees. Researchers at the University of Mainz and the University of Frankfurt in Germany reported in the journal Science Public Library General that they used two neonicotinoid solutions, clothianidin and thiacloprid, in a laboratory setting Pesticides were tested on the effect of different concentrations of insecticide on the content of acetylcholine in bee-secreting royal jelly.
