Fatigue performance is one of the important quality indicators of steel wire rope, because the wire rope at work, often bear high stress caused by fatigue damage. However, up to now, due to the short test time, high cost and long sample length required for the fatigue test of the applied wire, the improvement of the production process can not be exerted. Recently, Krakow Mining and Metallurgy Institute of Poland and the Warsaw Institute of Science jointly developed a new method of testing the fatigue properties of steel wire by ultrasonic testing.
