Objective To observe the expression of Fascin and Ki-67 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and to investigate the relationship between the expression of Fascin and Ki-67 and the biological behaviors and clinicopathological parameters. Methods Fourtin and Ki-67 immunohistochemical staining of lung specimens from 51 patients with different histological types and clinical stages were performed on lobectomy specimens from Department of Pathology, Peking Union Medical College Hospital from June 2004 to February 2005. Fascin Positive rate and Ki-67 index, statistical analysis of the differences in the different pathological features. Results The total positive rate of Fascin was 52.9% in 51 non-small cell lung cancer cases, of which 2 cases were highly differentiated mucoepidermoid carcinoma and 4 cases were bronchial alveolar carcinoma Fascin expression were negative, while 4 cases of large cell carcinoma and 3 cases of more The Fascin expression was positive in the form of carcinoma, the positive rate of Fascin was 43.5% in adenocarcinoma, and 66.7% in squamous cell carcinoma. The positive rate of Fascin increased with the decrease of the degree of cancer differentiation. There was a significant difference between the two groups (P <0.01). The positive expression of Ki-67 was positively correlated with the degree of tumor differentiation, and the Ki-67 index of Fascin positive group was significantly higher than that of negative group. There was no other clinicopathological correlation except Fascin expression was higher in male patients. Conclusion Fascin is upregulated in poorly differentiated NSCLC and positively correlated with Ki-67 index. Fascin is a poorly differentiated and malignant marker of NSCLC.
