Different speakers may have different speaking focuses in different contexts, which easily violates Grice’s cooperation principle. The obedient must cross the literal meaning to find the implied meaning behind the text, namely the meaning of the conversation. This paper extracts the film “Death of a Salesman,” a rather representative piece of dialogue, through a deep pragmatic analysis of the discourse, profoundly expounded the principle of cooperation and the meaning of the conversation in the exchange of words and play the role.
