英语惯用语是语块的重要组成部分,本研究从惯用语的认知理据出发,探讨心理意象对英语惯用语学习效果的作用。认知理据包括心理意象、意象图式、背景知识、概念隐喻、概念转喻等多种变量。研究表明,心理意象的两种主要手段,即解释性图片和词源说明能有效促进学生英语惯用语的学习,因此教师可以考虑将心理意象法作为一种教学方法应用到教学中。
English idioms are an important part of the language block. This study starts with the cognitive motivation of idioms and explores the effect of psychological images on learning English idioms. Cognitive motivation includes many kinds of variables, such as psychological image, image schema, background knowledge, conceptual metaphor and conceptual metonymy. The research shows that the two main means of psychological images, that is, explanatory pictures and etymological explanations, can effectively promote students’ learning of English idioms. Therefore, teachers can consider using psychological image law as a teaching method in teaching.
