唐代的韩愈研究有50多家，有一些是对其人品、文品的批评，颇有分析研究的价值。就人品来说，唐人的评论已定下后来评价的基调：韩愈是忧国忧民的入世者、颇能奖掖后进的导师、秉正执笔的史官。在文品方面，确立了“韩文”的崇高地位，但对“韩文”的使用价值有所怀疑，对“韩文”的小说笔法有争议，对“韩文”的传记作品有不同的评议。唐人对韩愈的诗并未认真地作出明确的评价。
In the Tang Dynasty, there were more than 50 studies of Han Yu, some of them were criticisms of their characters and articles, and quite valuable for analysis and research. As far as character is concerned, the comments of the Chinese people have set the tone for their later evaluation: Han Yu is a WTO member who worries about the country and people who cares deeply about the country and people. As for the literary works, the lofty status of “Korean” was established. However, it was doubtful about the use value of “Korean”. It was controversial about the writing style of “Korean” and the biographies of “Korean”. The poets of Han Yu did not make a clear assessment of Han Yu’s poems.
