The newly measured Pb isotopic composition of five massive sulphide samples in the Jade hydrothermal field shows a relatively small range of variation and exhibits a more uniform composition of lead isotopes. In the Pb-Pb diagram, the Pb isotopic data of massive sulphides form a linear arrangement that is consistent with the Pb isotopic compositions of the sediments and volcanic eclogites in the area and higher radiogenic lead than the fresh volcanic rocks in the area, It is confirmed that the lead in the massive sulphide in the seafloor is a mixed lead composed of sediments and lead from long quartz volcanic rocks. A comparative study of lead isotopic composition in different hydrothermal activity areas shows that the difference in geological tectonic setting is the main reason for the change of lead isotopic compositions of hydrothermal sediments in hydrothermal activity zones.
