To explore the significance of p53 protein expression in gastric cancer and precancerous lesions. The p53 protein monoclonal antibody was used to detect the expression of p53 protein in benign, malignant and precancerous lesions by immunohistochemical LSAB method. The results showed that there was no expression of p53 protein in normal gastric mucosa, gastritis polyps, and mild dysplasia. The positive expression rates of moderate-severe dysplasia and gastric cancer were 14% and 47%, respectively. In 74 cases of gastric cancer, the positive expression of p53 protein was related to the degree of differentiation of gastric cancer, lymph node metastasis, and depth of invasion, and it was significantly different in the corresponding group (P<0.05). The results suggest that abnormal expression of p53 is involved in the occurrence and development of gastric cancer. It is thought that the detection of p53 protein expression can be used as one of the important indicators to judge the prognosis of gastric cancer patients and guide the treatment of precancerous lesions.
