张国淦从黑龙江步入政坛起,便开始了修志实践活动。嗣后历任北洋政府总理府秘书长、总统府秘书长,农商、教育、司法、内务总长及北京图书馆馆长等职。1926年,退出北洋政坛,弃官从文,潜心治学,开始对中国古方志进行考证钩稽,成绩斐然,积稿三百余万言,并完成了从《永乐大典》中辑佚方志的工作。他著有《中国古方志考》《〈永乐大典〉辑本方志》《黑龙江志略》《历代石经考》和《辛亥革命史料》等,是一位博学卓识、著述等身的方志学家。
Zhang Guogan from Heilongjiang into the political arena, began the practice of Chi Chi practice. Subsequently served as Secretary-General of the Prime Minister’s Government of Beiyang Government, Secretary-General of Presidential Office, chief of agriculture, commerce, education, justice, internal affairs and director of Beijing Library. In 1926, withdrew from the Northern political arena and abandoned official posts, devoted himself to studying science. He began to carry on the textual research on the ancient Chinese chronicles. His achievements were outstanding. Over three million articles were accumulated and completed the work of editing the lost records in the Yongle Dagudi. He is the author of an anthology of anthropologists such as “Ancient Chinese Records”, “Yongle Dadian Series”, “Local Records of Heilongjiang”, “Shi Jing Jing Kao Shi” and “Revolution of 1911”.
