《崇古文诀》的编者楼昉是《古文关键》的编者吕祖谦的学生,加之《古文关键》的典范意义和重大影响,楼昉难免会感到一种影响的抑制和超越的艰难,故而在某些时候,他只能沿用师说;但楼昉的可贵之处在于,他在继承师说的同时,能够尽力创新,超越师说,从影响的抑制和焦虑中解脱出来,使《崇古文诀》一编得以独抒己意、自具面目。与《古文关键》相比,《崇古文诀》更具审美眼光,更关注古文的审美特质与艺术之美,带有更多审美批评的味道。
