Tissue transglutaminase (tissue transglutaminase, tTG) is a multi-functional calcium-dependent enzyme, in addition to catalyzing the formation of irreversible protein covalent cross-linking activity, but also the activity of binding and hydrolysis of GTP and ATP, Different parts play different roles in a variety of physiological and pathological processes, including cell growth and differentiation, cell adhesion and extension, apoptosis, signal transduction, tissue fibrosis and so on. The liver is the most active organ for the expression of tTG and has a bidirectional regulatory effect on the expression of tTG during hepatocellular injury and repair. There is a complex causal relationship between tTG nuclear translocation, mitochondrial cytochrome C release, and hepatocyte apoptosis.
