Ted Hughes loved nature from an early age, and his hometown suffered environmental damage caused by the industrial revolution, leaving him with a memorable memory. The deteriorating natural environment, people’s growing concern about ecology, Hughes formed his own view of nature and highlighted his works. There is no shortage of masterpieces masculine and wild in these natural poems, but his mid-to-late period shows a warm and peaceful scene. These changes are formally due to the influence of Taoism on Hughes. Disintegration of anthropocentrism, the establishment of the theory of nature, care of nature to achieve natural charm; all of these and Taoist natural advocate, return to nature and the idea of harmony between man and nature complement each other.
