Seismic method for large-scale exploration of metal minerals is not common. However, the Geophysical Prospecting Unit at the Geological Survey of Canada (CGS) recently introduced a shallow seismic reflection mapping technique called “optimum common offset”. This is an effective method for the exploration of metal minerals after the oil seismic exploration technology has been properly improved. In the right working environment, no matter how complex the underground situation is, the technology accurately maps the interface of the overburden with the bedrock and the profile of the overburden. According to Canadian Geological Survey Jim Hunter and Susan Pullan, a unique and advanced method of using this technology for gold exploration has been widely used in the northern part of Ontario. The area consists of clay and mud of varying thickness
