中国共产党和人民政府向来是重视祖国民族文化遗产的。近年来,各省、市相继建立了中医院,并就原有医院广泛地添设中医科。部分护理同志抱着高度热情参加了中医工作,协助中医师们更好地、顺利地进行治疗。毫无疑问,这是一个新的、光荣的任务,她们将同中医师们在发扬和提高中国医学的工作中一同起着一定作用。我国对病员的护理过去称做调养,与医疗结合起来由医生一人担任,或者嘱咐学生们帮助一般的技术操作。像上古名医扁鹊(秦越人)医治(?)太子的尸蹶症,叫学生子阳准备针刺,子豹帮他温熨和熬药,便是一个例子(见史记)。可见古代医、护工作没有明确的界限,护理方法也散见在各种医书里,缺乏专门著作
