20世纪二三十年代,苏联的文学现象十分复杂。一批从旧时代过来的作家有着各自独特的创作个性、审美理念和不同的政治倾向。他们的作品与时代格格不入,不能完全合乎当时苏联新兴社会体制对文学的要求。在严酷的社会环境中,一部分作家遭到了种种不公正的对待,有的被处决,有的被监禁。至于受到批判的,更不在少数,左琴科便是其中之一。可以说,“左琴科被判处了文学死刑”(马克·斯洛宁《苏维埃俄罗斯文学》第98页,
In the 1920s and 1930s, the literary phenomenon in the Soviet Union was very complicated. A group of writers from the old times have their own unique creative personality, aesthetic ideas and different political tendencies.
