British novelist Ian McEwan’s novel “Cement Garden” tells the story of an appalling sibling incest. The struggle between the self in the novel and the self and the struggle and control of the ego and the super ego constitute the ethical view of this desert island family and the model of the theory of Freud’s personality structure. But McEwan did not merely portray the story itself but hoped to scribe the warning bell of ethics and morality by describing the social extremes in people living in the wilderness of civilization.
