一九六三年我曾在民族乐队中拉大提琴,艺术实践证明,大提琴与其他民族乐器的发音很不融合,因此,一九六四年我开始了民族低音乐器的研究。在苏州民族乐器厂大力支持和帮助下,我设计的“四弦大胡”第一稿同年就问世了。
In 1963 I once played the cello in the national band. The practice of the art proved that the cello did not converge with the pronunciation of other national musical instruments. Therefore, in 1964 I started the study of national bass instruments. With the great support and assistance from Suzhou National Musical Instrument Factory, the first draft of the “Four-string Hu” I designed was released in the same year.
