In two patients with acute encephalopathy, the disease was found to be associated with the appearance of antibodies to human pro-T lymphocyte virus (HTLV-III). The third patient showed an anti-HTLV-III serum conversion, but the temporary correlation was not accurately confirmed. The disease is characterized by a two-week-long predominance of symptoms characterized by fever, general malaise, and mood changes. Two patients experienced epileptic seizures at a time of extreme encephalopathy. EEG changes are consistent with viral encephalitis; cerebrospinal fluid lymphocytes have a slight increase. The patient’s neurological symptoms and signs disappeared quickly, there is no obvious residual central nervous system sequelae.
