Objective To investigate the role of Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) in the course of Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP) and to study the effect of MP infection on HSP and its hypercoagulability. Methods The serum levels of MP-IgM and plasma D-Di in 61 children with HSP and 58 normal children were detected and the relationship between them was analyzed. Results The positive rate of MP-IgM and the level of D-Di in children with HSP were significantly higher than those in normal controls (P <0.05). There was no significant difference in D-Di levels between HSP children with and without MP infection Significance (P> 0.05). Conclusion MP infection may be related to the pathogenesis of HSP, but no significant effect on the hypercoagulability of HSP.
