一引言 MU5计算机(即曼沏斯特大学第五台计算机的简称)于1968年开始进行设计,于1972年底初步投入运行。其设计目标是要设计出一个高性能的通用计算机,能适用于科学计算、数据处理和商用等各方面,其结构要能适合近代程序语言(指ALGOL、FORTRAN、COBOL这一级)的需要。期望达到的计算能力是ATLAS(亦称MU4,即曼沏斯特大学第四台计算机)的二十位。这一速度的提高指望通过二种途径来达到:
I. INTRODUCTION The MU5 computer (short for Fifth Computer at Manstein University) was designed in 1968 and was put into operation by the end of 1972. Its design goal is to design a high-performance general-purpose computer that can be applied to all aspects of scientific computing, data processing and commercial applications, and its structure should be suitable for the needs of modern programming languages (referring to ALGOL, FORTRAN and COBOL).
