环境新闻,是新闻报道的重要门类,“它探求环境报道的独特规律,聚焦于人与自然环境的矛盾及其产生的社会问题,重在将人类环境的现状告知受众,引起社会的警示”。作为一种重要的报道题材,环境新闻开始于美国19世纪的资源保护运动(1850—1920),在这场运动中,涌现出了世界上最早的一批专业环境新闻记者和专业环境记者协会。环保典范之作之一,美国纽约市的中央公园,就是在《纽约晚邮报》主编布莱恩特的相关环境报道的影响下,由纽约市政专门拨出一块土地建立而成的。而《森林与河流》杂志主编葛瑞乃尔对滥杀、滥捕猎物的声讨,则直接导致了美国包括黄石公园保护法在内的一系列自然生物保护法的出台。
Environmental news is an important category of news reports. “It explores the unique laws of environmental reporting and focuses on the contradictions between human beings and the natural environment as well as the social problems that arise. It focuses on informing the audience about the current status of the human environment and arousing the public’s warning.” As an important topic of coverage, the Environmental News began with the 19th-century Resource Conservation Movement in the United States (1850-1920), in which the world’s first group of professional environmental journalists and professional environmental journalists emerged.
