在阶梯明槽中可能出现两种性质不同的水流：小流量和平缓坡度上溢流水舌及大流量的撇流。给出了开始生成撇流的简单预报解析法。水舌冲击下游台阶的动量方向变化是本方法的基础。对分析的成果与现有试验资料进行了比较。开始生成撇流可表示为初始弗劳德数和水舌角度的关系。概括研究的成果，可以预测撇流的初始生成，并且还可以预测出上游一个台阶上的水舌的偏移危险。
Two different types of water flow may appear in the step tank: small flow and gentle flow on the sloped overflow tongue and large flow. A simple predictive analytic method that begins to generate the stream slip is given. The change of the momentum direction of the water drop impacting the downstream step is the basis of this method. The results of the analysis were compared with the existing test data. The start of the formation of a stream can be expressed as the relationship between the initial Froude number and the angle of the gullet. Summarizing the results of the study, it is possible to predict the initial formation of the stream and also to predict the risk of migration of the water tongue on a step upstream.
