The launch of Shenzhen’s carbon emissions trading marks a new stage in China’s carbon emissions trading pilot project. As a traditional large-scale carbon emission, the petroleum and petrochemical industry coexists with opportunities and challenges. Businesses should plan ahead, keep a watchful eye on the changes and implement them appropriately. A green wave with the theme of a new energy revolution and a low-carbon economy is sweeping through China. Right now, China’s carbon emissions account for nearly a quarter of the world. Over the next 20 years, half of the world’s annual energy-related carbon emissions growth comes from China, so any activity on China’s carbon trading will attract global attention. After nearly two years of preparation, Shenzhen carbon emission trading formally launched on the line. During the pilot phase, 635 industrial enterprises and 350 large-scale public buildings as “major carbon emitters” were included in the carbon emission trading system.
