《凡物流形》在结构上完全可以看作一个前后相呼应的文本整体。《凡物流形》不仅通过发问的方式具体描绘了这个形物的世界,而且着重关注和思考了形物世界得以统一的本原及生命的根源问题。《凡物流形》认为生者与死者、明界与幽界是贯通一体,而非隔绝不通的。《凡物流形》讨论了道、一关系,提出了“有一,天下无不有”的本体说,论述了“察一”“得一”和“守一”的功夫论,认为“察道”是“修身而治邦家”的依据,“修养”和“治邦家”则是“察道”的两种功用。将《凡物流形》判定为道家著作应当是非常合理的,它是形成黄老之学的一个重要观念的源头。
