不少植物通过嫁接,可以改良品种。同样,高分子化合物通过“嫁接”,也可以获得较全面的优异性能,适应生产发展需要。近几十年来,人们就已制得了不少合成材料——高聚物(高分子化合物)。但是,它们都有这样或那样的缺点,不能满足现代生产和科学技术发展的要求。能不能制得性能比较全面的新型合成材料呢?经过研究,人们发现,高聚物的分子大多数是长链状的,它的性能主要决定于长链的组成和结构。
