Objective To compare the immunoglobulin levels in blood of patients with hematologic malignancies with those in non-infected patients and explore the humoral immune factors that influence the blood infection in patients with hematological malignancies. Methods Thirty-six patients with hematologic malignancies were divided into two groups, 18 patients with and without blood infection, and the serum IgG, IgA, IgM, C3 and C4 were detected by nephelometry. VITEK-60 System Automatic Bacteria Analyzer to identify strains. Results Serum levels of IgG, IgA, IgM, C3 and C4 were not significantly different between the two groups. There was no significant difference between the infected group and the non-infected group except C4. Conclusion The serum immunoglobulin content is not an important factor in the blood infection of patients with hematologic malignancies. The low immunoglobulin or the decrease of antibody activity may be one of the main factors that lead to blood infection.
