According to the latest survey from Allan Woodburn Associates (AWA), a weakening dollar in 2003 raised the global pesticide market (end-user level) by 5.8% to $ 29.39 billion. Net of inflation and monetary factors, the actual drop of 0.3%. This is an improvement over the 1.5% decrease in 2002. The AWA notes that the “bear market” for pesticides has lasted five years and actually dropped 12% since the peak of the market in 1998. The value of the euro increased by 16% over the U.S. dollar, bringing the Western European pesticide market in 2003 up 11.2% to $ 70.05 million.
