The Korean pop diva Jang Nara, who was born in March 18th，1981, is a singer and actress. As a child, Jang Nara spent most of her childhood in her birthplace, Seoul, but appeared with her father in a play, Les Misérables, in her primary school days, thus sparking her interest to become an actress.
Jang Nara also went on to become an advertisement model for some CF advertisements in her high school days before entering into the Department of Theater, the Faculty of the Art in Chungang University around March 2000. In the May of 2001, Jang also moved into singing by releasing her first album, First Story, with the title song, Burying My Face in Tears, and selling 300,000 copies in the process. According to fans, the song was applauded as harmonized native melody line and her native vocal. Her pop ballad style song, Confession and the April Story, was ranked at the top in various music charts. So Jang Nara won many prizes such as "the best new person" "the most popular CD" and "Ten MBC singers". Then Jang Nara held a "Live" music TV programme in the MBC music camp.
Besides, Jang Nara also has a successful acting career. She was invited to attend MBC youth idol drama—New Non- stop in the year 2001, and with famous Korean young star Jang Dong Gun, in which she firstly appears in a TV Sitcom and shows talents besides singing. Together with Jang Hyuk, she also played the leading role in a record- breaking TV drama, Successful Story of a Bright Girl, which recorded very high audience rating. When the " Bright Girl " craze is not yet over, Jang Nara, whipping up another "Sweet Woman" tornado. Once MBC drama I Love Sweet Woman in which Jang Nara as a leading role, released in Korean, it was unprecedented applauded.
Although Jang Nara has no alarming beauty, she has the brightest smile, thus, she is extremely welcome by the Korean people. Moreover, Jang Nara is also found that she seems to have acting cells. In particular, some kind of brutal, a bit stupid, a bit lovely image of a little girl, is simply tailor-made for her.
In early 2003, Jang Nara moved into film market with the super-high price of 300 million Korean yuan (about RMB18 million), and began his first film: Oh! Happy Day , when Oh! Happy Day formally released, people in the capital Seoul who have seen it amounted to more than 70,000 Trips. And it successfully won the box- office champion, becoming the third popular film adapted from the Internet novel following the film My Sassy Girl and My Sassy Teacher. Jang Nara entered "South Korean 40th Bell Prize" by this film, and won two nominations of the Best Female Newcomer and the Best Actress. Meanwhile, Jang Nara, has been invited to be spokesperson of "Kwangju International Film Festival" organized by South Korea in October 25th.
Jang Nara also frequently attended various charitable activities. Such as donating about 300 million Korean yuan advertising revenue to thank the training of her almamater, as the fund of the Art in Chungang University, together with the actor Lee Jung Jae. In March 2002, she was appointed as the Publicity ambassador of the international hungry relief agency, raising funds for hungry children of North Korea. She is appreciated because of taking actively part in charitable activities, and all the people call her "angel artist."
