Rice samples were scanned with a Foss Tecator Infratec and their amylose content was determined using a standard wet chemical method. Calibration software along with several mathematical treatments of the sample spectra and several regression methods was used to optimize a near infrared transmittance spectroscopy equation for determining rice amylose content. The standard error of calibration, standard error of cross-validation and regression squared of the calibration were 1.489, 1.761 and 0.885, respectively.
