Laura Eskisehir, a contemporary Mexican writer, was born in Mexico City on September 30, 1950. She was originally a screenwriter, her husband is a film director. In 1989, she wrote a novella “just like water in chocolate.” In the novel, the author created a “kitchen literature.” The stage of the novel is a kitchen, a romantic love story is happening in the kitchen. The entire work is enveloped in a rich and magical Mexican food culture. At the same time, the author frequently adopts the artistic technique of magical realism in Latin America to make this novel particularly fascinating. The success of Esquivir caused an extreme imbalance in the mentality of her director, macho husband, leading to their divorce. In 1998, she published a new book entitled “Delicious in My Heart,” a collection of 14 novels, each of which is related to Mexican diet. But it is not a story dedicated to eating. Instead, these stories reflect the lives of Mexicans, especially Mexican women, and their emotional world: the stubborn Mexican personality, the homesickness that has melted in the blood, Thick affection, the suffering of women under the oppression of machismo ... Here, the six miniature novels published are translated from “Delicious in My Heart”.
