Taurine, as a widely distributed endogenous sulfur-containing amino acid in various tissues of the body, has a variety of pharmacological and physiological effects, including antioxidant activity, regulation of calcium homeostasis and related signaling pathways and anti-apoptotic effects. More and more studies show that taurine has a good curative effect in the treatment of heart diseases, especially for chronic heart failure (CHF). In the past, drugs for treating chronic heart failure mainly acted by inhibiting angiotensin II and blocking β-adrenergic, and the mechanism was mainly on the sympathetic nervous system and the renin-angiotensin system. This article reviews the mechanism of taurine in inhibiting chronic heart failure through neurohumoral factors.
