The previous literature reported that the average survival time of patients with gastric cancer receiving postoperative chemotherapy was prolonged. Since tumor cells in small lesions often have a shorter propagation time than large lesions, residual lesions should be more sensitive to cell cycle-specific drugs than resectable tumors after resection. Therefore, after surgery, patients are often given strong chemotherapy to induce remission, and then maintain treatment. However, some authors have found that postoperative chemotherapy does not affect the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer. In order to obtain more reliable data than the clinical experience alone, the authors used multivariate analysis to determine the relationship between chemotherapy and survival time after gastrectomy in patients with advanced gastric cancer.
