Objective To study the effects of cumin on hepatic fibrosis and lipid peroxidation in rats. Methods A total of 100 Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal control group (n = 12) and CCl4 composite model. The model rats were randomly divided into model control group The low, medium and high dose fennel group and compound salvia miltiorrhiza group, each group of 12; corresponding drug intervention for 8 weeks, microscopic examination of liver morphology; automatic biochemical analyzer detection of peripheral serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), day AST and serum total protein (TP) and albumin (ALB) were detected by spectrophotometry. The contents of hydroxyproline (HYP) and malondialdehyde (MDA) Dismutase (SOD) activity. Results The results of HE showed that the liver tissue inflammation and steatosis of the model control group were significantly improved, and were significantly improved after intervention with different doses of fennel. The results of biochemical tests showed that the levels of ALT and AST were significantly increased (P <0.05), the levels of TP and ALB were significantly decreased (P <0.05) and the levels of HYP and MDA were significantly increased (P <0.05) in the model control group compared with the normal control group (P <0.05). Compared with the model control group, the levels of ALT and AST in the low, medium and high dose fenvalerate groups and the compound salvia miltiorrhiza group were significantly decreased (P <0.05), and the levels of TP and ALB were significantly increased P <0.05). The levels of HYP and MDA were significantly decreased (P <0.05) and SOD activity was significantly increased (P <0.05). Conclusion Fennel has a good anti-hepatic fibrosis effect and its mechanism may be related to the regulation of lipid peroxidation in rats.
