本文研究了１９８２—１９８８年间卫生保持组织引起的价格竞争对美国加利福尼亚州２９８所私人非卫生保持组织医院每例住院平均费用增长率的影响，结果认为在卫生保持组织与传统的健康保险公司之间的竞争，可以明显降低医院费用增长。
This paper examines the effect of price competition caused by health maintenance organizations on the average cost-per-incidence rate of hospitalization for 298 private non-health organizations in California during the period 1982-1988. The results suggest that there is a relationship between health maintenance organizations and traditional health insurance companies. The competition can significantly reduce hospital cost growth.
