《榆树下的欲望》(以下简称《榆》)自上世纪20年代《榆》问世以来,国内外的研究突出表现在神话原型批评、精神分析、女权主义批评、存在主义和悲剧主题及美学思想等方面,可说几臻极致,但从文化领域的情感角度进行研究还有待进一步挖掘。因此,有必要从英国伯明翰学派的文化理论家雷蒙德·威廉斯所提出的情感结构角度,探析《榆》中的表层情感形式、深层情感结构和艺术情感构建,揭示情节逆转背后的情感逆转,从而解读其悲剧“净化”的主题在人类情感基本范式中的艺术建构过程,并阐明其之于摆脱人类精神困境、实现人类精神救赎的重大意义。
