The Kuomintang government successively promulgated a series of wartime cultural control policies that seriously affected the literary world at that time. A few years after the fall of Wuhan and especially the Southern Anhui Incident, the writings of Mao Zedong, a left-wing writer, were banned. The chief editor’s magazine was forbidden and his work was deleted. However, he was adept at using pen-and-pencil networks to select topics with wonder, genres and euphemisms Show its resistance. The vast number of writers who confronted Mao Dun with the difficult writing and the most advanced writers boycotted and even accused the Kuomintang of their cultural control policies resulted in the Kuomintang losing its control.
