The authors randomized 28 healthy, gestational age VLBW infants to either a non-protein-fortified (14) or a human milk-fortified (14) human milk. One of the following four options is used: (1) human milk (mature milk from human breast milk, or better milk from infant mother), (2) human milk fat (1 g / dl), 3) human milk + human milk protein (1g / dl), (4) human milk + human milk fat (1g / dl) + human milk protein (1g / dl).
